In achieving full leverage from innovation, clients are increasingly looking to monetize their intellectual property and/or use it as a bargaining chip in development of their strategic interests.  IPEngine’s Commercialization work comprises a number of key components.

Portfolio Assessment/ValuationIPEngine’s commercialization strategy support work begins with a detailed assessment of a client’s patent portfolio and where it fits within the relevant technology domain and market space.  The portfolio is assessed in terms of the intrinsic strength of the patents included, as well as the value of its IP to the economics in its marketplace. Taken together, these provide the basis for execution of an effective commercialization effort.

Target identification – effective knowledge of which companies are building which portfolios in which market segments is a key input to identifying appropriate targets for a client’s commercialization efforts.  IPEngine builds detailed patent and technology landscapes designed to identify potential patent portfolios for acquisition, existing/potential infringers to be pursued, potential technology and IP “white spaces” to be exploited through product innovation, etc.

Transaction support – based upon the work completed with regard to valuation and target identification, IPEngine will work with clients to develop the appropriate deal terms and supporting documents (for both internal and external use) required to close the deal.
